Karela or Bitter Gourd is exactly as the name suggests – bitter. Despite it’s bitterness and when made well, it is a very enjoyable dish. Karela is also known for it’s health benefits – good for liver, skin, cleanses blood amongst others. Enjoy our version with a dash of tartness and a hint of sweet, just enough to make you forget you are eating and enjoying Karela or Bitter Gourd! Of course we all dislike or even hate karela as it’s commonly known. Make this vegetable, giving you tips on how-to make it almost bitter-free. We won’t be shocked, if this becomes one of your favourites soon!

Ingredients:

600 Gram Bitter Gourd (Karla)
1 Onion, chopped
1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
2 Dry chilli
3 tbsp Oil
1/2 Coriander Leaves
Salt to taste
1 tbsp Cumin seed
1 tbsp chuk
1 tbsp red chilli
800 ml Water
4 tbsp Sesame seeds
